Sri Lanka stocks lower at close of trade; CSE All-Share down 0.09%


Sri Lanka stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in thePalm OilTelecoms and Diversified Holdings sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share declined 0.09%.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Ceylon Beverage HoldingsPLC (CM:BREW), which rose 16.31% or 98.00 points to trade at 699.00 at the close. Meanwhile, SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) added 14.29% or 0.1000 points to end at 0.8000 and Multi Finance PLC (CM:MULT) was up 11.97% or 1.70 points to 15.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sinhaputhra Finance PLC (CM:SFL), which fell 8.28% or 1.40 points to trade at 15.50 at the close. Muller & Phipps PLC (CM:MULL) declined 7.69% or 0.100 points to end at 1.200 and Tea Smallholder Factories PLC (CM:TSML) was down 7.41% or 2.00 points to 25.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 101 to 70 and 42 ended unchanged.
Shares in Muller & Phipps PLC (CM:MULL) fell to 52-week lows; losing 7.69% or 0.100 to 1.200.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.65% or 0.28 to $42.64 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 1.02% or 0.46 to hit $44.77 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.01% or 0.10 to trade at $1328.20 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.38% to 190.870, while USD/LKR fell 0.19% to 145.780.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.09% at 97.26.
